Press Release - SALTHOUSE SET TO RELEASE NEW FLAGSHIP ICON RANGE

ICON 54S

A new ICON Sedan range of luxury motor yachts is close to hitting the market after Salthouse Next Generation Boats moved its manufacturing to Taiwan - enabling increased focus on designing and developing new products at greater speed.

Owner Dean Salthouse says the first Corsair 44’ is currently being built in the Taiwan factory, for a New Zealand owner, and he has personally been overseeing its construction.

“It’s a very exciting time for our company. Handing over the building process to a highly experienced and better equipped production builder has allowed us to be fully dedicated to developing the new flagship ICON line that will offer the latest features - at a very competitive price.” As well as the original ICON Sports fisher flybridge models.

“He says Kit Carlier and Donna Maree of Kit Carlier Design, formerly of Alloy Yachts joined the team this year and have been able to provide a totally new level of interior design and CAD computer modelling”

“In addition, we have conducted extensive research into the latest industry trends emerging worldwide and visited boat shows in Europe and Taiwan to ensure we’re offering the latest in leading edge design.”

These new design features have been incorporated into the new Sedan range from 54' to 70' and include:

  • The introduction of the midship’s full width owner’s cabin and optional four cabin and three cabin layouts
  • Dinghy boot and hydraulic boarding platform for easy use and tender UV protection
  • Hull ports and window detailing in the hull for all forward cabins
  • Conventional drive and IPS/Zeus pod drive options
  • Gyro stabilizer
  • Pillar less saloon door and window
  • Cockpit retractable sun shade
  • Cockpit table and seating.

“This is just the start of what is to come, with clients being able to customize layouts and variations to suit their requirements.”

Mr Salthouse says business has been booming this year, with customers excited about the possibilities of a new range, it's always been our intention to develop a larger range for our current owners to move up into.

“My phone has rung off the hook. Levels of inquiry has gone through the roof over the last six months resulting in every second hand Corsair Cabriolet being snapped up. For example I have just steamed the latest 49’ back to New Zealand from Brisbane for a client who has just sold his Corsair Cabriolet 44’ to upgrade to a 49 model.”

He says exceptional terms trade are also a key selling point with buyers paying 25% deposit payment on ordering their vessel, a second payment of 25% on sea trialling with the balance paid prior to shipping.
