New Release - Hot of the Press

New Sedan Models from 53’ to 63’ released from Dean
Salthouse Next Generation Boats

With the success of the Salthouse Corsair 49 and the interest it has created the obvious transition is to a wider body 53' to 63' range. The new range will provide a greater choice within the “New Zealand made” market.

Salthouse Next Generation Boats has enlisted the skills of Bill Upfold, Elite Marine Design to assist in the development of the new Salthouse Corsair range.  The hull will be a Salthouse design with Upfold adding his strength to the layout and aesthetic’s to the new range.
Upfold has created a spacious and beautifully designed layout which incorporates a midship master cabin, as well as maintaining many of the outstanding features Salthouse Corsair owners expect.  Custom design options will be available utilizing the GRP hull mould with Upfold designing to the owners requirements.

We aim to build a range of vessels with greater fuel efficiency than is currently available.  By targeting weight through our existing construction methods and also performance with the reduced drag already achieved in the Corsair range.
The biggest development will be the introduction of optional water ballast tanks (primarily for the Australian market), to increase heavy weather performance when required. I believe this will give us unparalleled performance and force a rethink for other manufacturers.
Long have we heard of the benefits of weight or higher displacements from our mass produced competitors. In heavy conditions I agree, but when the sea is flat and the sky is blue, reduced weight equals less fuel consumption and down wind in any conditions you don’t need weight for performance.
Testing will be carried out to establish the correct amount of ballast to achieve the desired effect in moderate, heavy and extreme conditions giving fingertip control to fill or dump each ballast tank.

This range will be finished to the same high standard as the Salthouse Corsair 49. See Dean at the Auckland International Boat show for more details.

NEW RELEASE

New Salthouse Corsair sedan model soon to be released

Ranging from 53 – 63 feet, beam 5.3m

"WATCH THIS SPACE"

With the success of the Salthouse Corsair 49 and the interest it has created the obvious transition is to a wider body 53' to 63' range.

The concept is simple, supply a range of Sedan styled planning launches that take advantage of the proven Salthouse sea keeping ability coupled with the fuel economy that comes with our proven construction methods especially in targeting weight over mass production!

As Director of Salthouse Next Generation Boats I find myself carrying the baton of Dads (Bob Salthouse) legacy forward. Our aim is to build on the lessons learnt from many years and boats built. My strong sailing background helps significantly in understanding what makes boats fast especially in waves and many of the special features our vessel carry are for this purpose. Being environmentally conscious our vessels as always will not require larger motors to achieve comparable speeds! It is greatly satisfying to see the main manufacturers change some of their construction techniques to what we have been doing for 40 years in an attempt to close the fuel consumption gap.

We hope the new range will give buyers a greater choice in the Sedan market with far greater fuel savings and cruising range.

We will continue to allow our clients to fully customise their vessels to their own personal styles and leisure activities.

As a company we continue to work on keepings costs down and quality up, to provide an asset comparable to other market leaders.
